Ryan Day stunned Ohio State fans by revealing the Buckeyes are building their defense around three unexpected names: linebacker Christian Alliegro, safety Earl Little, and freshman nickelback Jay Timmons. As questions swirl around this unconventional choice—especially with team captains like Payton Pierce and Jaylen McClain not in the spotlight—Little’s reliability against the run and Alliegro’s versatility are transforming Ohio State’s defensive identity early in the season.
On offense, the focus shifts to Brandon Inniss as the potential go-to wide receiver behind Jeremiah Smith. With a concerted effort to build chemistry between Julian Sayin and Inniss highlighted by designed first-down targets and a dramatic Hail Mary touchdown, the Buckeyes’ passing game could shift gears heading into Big Ten play. Will Inniss earn Sayin’s trust when it matters most, or will other playmakers emerge down the stretch?
